She ran away from her Jackson, Tennessee home at age 13, fearing her father would kill her. One of the officers assigned to find her was Tyler Schrupp. She returned the next day, and the officer never met her. Fifteen years later, Roshin Ali, now 28, has a job with the sheriff’s department. Schrupp didn’t know who she was at first, but he was immediately drawn to her. "He wouldn’t stop staring at me, but literally wouldn’t say a word at all," Ali told The Post. "I thought she was very beautiful, which is why I was kind of nervous to talk to her," Schrupp said. As they talked, they realized a shared past. "We started putting the dates together and then she described the area," Schrupp recalled. "That’s when I started to be like, ‘Okay, I was a part of that. It’s crazy that back then I was looking for you, and now we’re sitting here talking.'" The pair got engaged in August 2024 and now share a five-month-old son. In July, Ali went viral with a TikTok video in which she shakes hands with Schrupp, describing him as an "officer who went searching for me while missing." Ali, who uses the handle Roro Nicole on social media, later clarified misconceptions about their story.

The Night of Escape: A 13-Year-Old Fleeing a Violent Father

In 2010, Ali’s gambling-addicted father — who didn’t allow his kids outside the house — came home after losing money and threatened to kill Ali and her siblings if he caught them outside. "We immediately ran into our bedroom because we were afraid that he was going to start beating on us like he normally does whenever he comes home upset," Ali explained on TikTok. When he finally opened the door, he grabbed Ali’s sister by the hair and dragged her into the bedroom, where he began beating her with a cable wire. "Then my mom walks into our room and she looks at us, and she goes, ‘Y’all are next,’" Ali recalled. Ali and her brother, who was 12, jumped out their bedroom window and ran to the nearest park. The father called the police to report them missing. The police arrived; Ali’s sister reported she was assaulted and the parents were briefly jailed. Ali and her brother were found the next day and placed in foster care along with their two siblings, who were 15 and 16.

A Second Chance: She Joins the Sheriff's Department and He Feels a Pull

About 12 years later, Ali, now grown, took a job with the sheriff’s department. Schrupp didn’t know who she was, but he was immediately drawn to her. “I don’t know why, but he wouldn’t stop staring at me, and he wouldn’t say a word,” Ali said, later recalling. “He wouldn’t say a word, and I thought she was very beautiful, which is why I was nervous to talk to him,” Schrupp added. As they talked, they realized a shared past and trauma, and began to open up about it. "That’s when I started to be like, ‘Okay, I was a part of that. It’s crazy that back then I was looking for you, and now we’re sitting here talking,’" Schrupp recalled.

The Past Aligns: They Connect Over Trauma and Dates

As they talked, they began piecing together dates and places. Ali described the area, and Schrupp realized he had been part of the earlier search. The moment confirmed that their pasts were entangled in a way neither could have imagined. They got engaged in August 2024 and now have a five-month-old son. In July, Ali went viral with a TikTok video in which she shakes hands with Schrupp and calls him “the officer who went searching for me while missing.” To set the record straight against misconceptions, Ali—who goes by Roro Nicole on social media—posted a four-part video series detailing the true and harrowing ordeal.

Healing, Hope, and a Future Together

Ali and Schrupp plan to wed next year, and they say their story has touched many people. "Somebody said he’s my hero," Ali said. "And he is." They’ve built a family together—facing a painful past with resilience and choosing to move forward with love and partnership.
