Lose 50kg in 3 months and win a Porsche: China's extreme gym challenge sparks safety concerns
On Oct 23, a fitness center in Binzhou, Shandong province, launched a controversial weight-loss challenge promising a Porsche Panamera as the prize for losing 50kg in three months. The car is a used 2020 model owned by the gym owner, not a new car, and is valued at around 1.1 million yuan (US$155,000) in mainland China. Entry to participate costs 10,000 yuan (US$1,400) and covers meals and accommodation in a fully enclosed training environment.
