The 75-year-old Glasgow star admitted she doesn't utter a word before noon while on tour
Lulu- who is about to embark on her final ever tour - said: 'I try not to come out of my room until 12. It makes it easier. I take care of my instrument. It allows me to sing.'
But this isn't the only lifestyle quirk Lulu Kennedy-Cairns has developed during her 60 years in the spotlight.
The legendary musician has barely aged a day in the past decade - and has previously revealed some of the secrets that keep her looking so youthful.
'Stay Slim Strategy'
Over the years, Lulu developed a "stay slim strategy," which she shared with You magazine in 2010. Firstly, the singer - who has one son with her ex-husband John Frieda - said she adopted an approach of "never say never" in her diet but avoids eating pasta where possible. She explained: "Like most carb-based meals, I found it makes me feel sluggish and isn't great for my blood sugar. But, never say never. If I'm out with my sister for a special occasion - like my birthday - then a big bowl of pasta is a huge treat." Instead, the star consciously made an effort to "train" herself to enjoy vegetables and proteins. She said: "I know my body responds best to that. In the same way, I also try not to eat bread. If I'm running a bit late for a late lunch before going out for dinner - maybe a piece of chicken with a little mustard or salsa - then I find it much easier just to say 'no' to the bread. Because I don't starve myself."
Not having chocolate at home
Lulu admitted she's a "chocoholic." "When you crave chocolate, it's best to choose dark. I've read that it's packed with antioxidants, so I can tell myself it's good for me, and just a square or two is satisfying. But, I don't keep chocolate at home just in case because it really calls to me!" However, the star says she doesn't deprive herself of desserts - she simply splits them. She added: "You don't need dessert after a meal. But, you usually crave something a little sweet... So, order one between you and split it!"
Skincare 'Golden Rule'
In 2010, Lulu opened up about how she takes extra care of her hands as she ages in an attempt to stay younger. "So, my ritual is to take care of what goes on my face to benefit my hands as well. For me, it's a golden rule: whatever I apply to my face, I use the 'leftovers' on my hands: face cream, masks, facial oil. I keep hand cream by the sink - but don't stop at hand cream. Any rich, emollient oil or cream can do the trick. If you're cooking, rub a little of the cooking oil into your hands. Or even butter! And if you're applying cream to baby skin, at the same time, put a little extra on your hands. It's a perfect way to keep them soft and supple."
Always having room temperature water at hand
The star says she constantly has a bottle of water on the go. She explained: "I always keep bottled or filtered water in room temperature bottles - not cold, as I don't like it chilled. I've trained myself to drink water; it's not the tastiest thing in the world, but I know it's good for me. It helps me stay hydrated between meals, but I don't drink it with food."
Dance and exercise
When she reached fame at 15, Lulu incorporated dance into her performance style, which she still maintains in her 70s. In 1984, she released her exercise album "Shape Up and Dance." "My favorite workout is a dance class and I try to do it three to four times a week," she said. The star also stated that she always opts for extra steps wherever possible. She added: "For example, I'll always take the stairs instead of the elevator."
Lets herself off the hook on holiday
In order to stay disciplined with her diet and exercise throughout the year, Lulu says she allows herself to indulge in what she likes while on vacation. "Recently, I was in Greece on vacation and I ate a lot of Greek salads, and of course, I didn't ask the waiters to remove the feta cheese! But, the key is to realize that it's a break from your real life and from normalcy - and then you'll pick up where you left off when you get back home. If you've gained weight, you'll get back to normal when you get home."
